The Côte-d'Or is preparing to experience contrasting weather conditions in the days to come, according to forecasts from the founder of Météo Côte-d'Or, Thibault Mascia. Snow, frost, ice and spring temperatures will punctuate the weekend.
Significant snowfall is expected this Thursday
From this Thursday morning, snow will appear in the west of the department before gradually spreading. “The snow will fall mid-morningfirst in the west of the department then throughout the Côte-d'Or. But be careful of the risk of rainy mild in the afternoon. This could turn snow into rain and cause a total meltdownparticularly in Auxois,” explains Thibault Mascia.
Dijon could be less affected by melting, with variable accumulations in the evening: “From 7 p.m. or 8 p.m., the cold air will take over and a new fairly intense snow episode is expected. We could have between 5 and 10 centimeters of snow in Dijon and in the plains,” he explains. The reliefs and the north of the department, notably Is-sur-Tille, Châtillon-sur-Seine and Sainte-Seine-l'Abbaye, could record up to 20 centimeters snow in places.
Risks of icy conditions and severe frosts are expected Thursday evening
The sky will clear in the evening, giving way to freezing temperatures. “With the sky clear, we will have to be vigilant in the face of severe frosts and the risk of widespread ice throughout the department,” warns the expert.
Friday will be marked by snow showers
The weather on Friday looks set to be unstable, marked by falling skies. “We will have clearingsbut also showers which will circulate, sometimes in the form of snow, with a little extra layer possible after those of the previous night,” indicates Thibault Mascia.
A weekend marked by an exceptional mild spell
The weekend will bring a radical change: “A violent redoubt will settle in from Saturday, with temperatures reaching 13 to 16 degrees on Sunday. These are almost exceptional values for the season,” he emphasizes. The south wind blowing up to 80 km/hwill accentuate this feeling of softness.
