Jack Burkea 29-year-old Canadian amateur cyclist, achieved an impressive feat taking the KOM (King of the Mountain) – record for fastest climb recorded on the app Strava – on the Mortirolo pass and the Stelvio pass. He set a new record on the Col du Mortirolo segment (11.85 km at 10.8%) with a time of 43'45''. The previous record, dating from 2019, belonged to a certain… Vincenzo Nibaliwinner of Tour de France 2014, Giro 2013 and 2016, as well as The Return 2010. During the Giro 2019, the Italian completed the climb in 44'52''. The dream of becoming a professional
In a video posted on his social networks, Jack Burke expressed his desire to join and become a professional cyclist: “I just broke the Mortirolo record… I exploded it”he declared, when he had just arrived at the top of the legendary Italian pass. “It's the kind of day where you really have the best legs, where you look at your meter and you say to yourself 'this is a good day'. Although he is still an amateur, Jack Burke is not a complete stranger. He has previously raced at Continental level (3rd division) for teams in North America, Luxembourg and Austria. Additionally, he is the author of a book titled “How to become a professional cyclist?”.
