If you have a swimming pool, be aware that the new regulations in the residential sector will apply in September 2025.
Which leaves citizens two summers to comply.
Those who purchase a swimming pool must comply with the standards from the moment of purchase. Here is what you need to know:
- The height of your fence must be at least 1.2 m.
- The space between the bars and the floor must be less than 10 cm.
- The door must close automatically and have a padlock.
“We give a document to our customers. Our representatives also ask customers if they know the new rules. We have a duty to inform consumers,” explained Frédéric B. Gauthier, co-owner at Destination Piscine Soleil plus.
If you already have a swimming pool, you have until September 2025 to comply. The regulations were originally scheduled to come into force in July 2023.
This is also the end of grandfather clauses. At Cloturex, the phone is ringing non-stop. Several people have already followed suit and modified their installations.
“There are the forward-thinking people who don’t want to wait until the last minute. We expect to have a traffic jam next year. We are already in September for appointments for the installations,” mentions Josée Mercier, representative at Cloturex.
It is advisable to plan ahead and not wait until the last minute to comply.
