This Monday, the police made a macabre discovery in a building in the Tour-Chabot district of Niort (Deux-Sèvres). Indeed, a lifeless man was found in his ground floor apartment, report our colleagues from The New Republic. Murder is the lead favored by investigators.
The commotion at the foot of the building at 2 rue Georges-Carpentier this Monday evening did not bode well. Police officers in uniform and in plain clothes paraded through the hall for a good part of the evening. The victim is a man in his forties. His neighbors describe him as a “discreet” person. He also appeared to live alone.
A broken window discovered in the apartment
The Niort public prosecutor has communicated little information on this case. Caution is required. The circumstances of the death have not been revealed, but the seal on the front door of the apartment is unequivocal. The forty-year-old was allegedly the victim of murder. This avenue is being considered following the discovery of a broken window in the home.
The murder investigation is now in the hands of the Poitiers Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS 86). An autopsy of the body will take place at the Poitiers forensic institute this Thursday. This should allow us to know more about the circumstances of the death.
