Thailand and China have unveiled the logo for the golden jubilee marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between the two nations next year.
On Tuesday, November 19, Chinese and Thai representatives participated in a roundtable discussion to prepare for the 2025 Golden Jubilee and unveil its logo at the IconSiam shopping center in Bangkok.
Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa said Thailand and China formally established diplomatic ties on July 1, 1975, by signing the Joint Communiqué on the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations in Beijing.
The two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their relations next year and will use the logo for the occasion, he said, adding that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and China jointly designed the logo.
It represents a dragon, for China, and a naga, a mythical creature resembling a snake, for Thailand.

It borrows the colors of the two national flags: the red of the Chinese flag and the blue of the Thai flag.
The dragon and the naga face each other and look at the same golden orb, meaning they are aiming for the same goal:
“A Thailand-China community with a shared future for greater stability, prosperity and sustainability.”
Mr. Maris said Thailand and China have walked side by side for 50 years, through ups and downs, and have developed close ties in all fields.

He added that this first half-century celebration would be a good opportunity for the two countries to come together and discuss how to further develop their relations in the second half of the century.
Particularly on how to face future challenges with the same objectives that mutually benefit the populations of both countries.
Furthermore, he highlighted that many activities would be organized throughout the year to commemorate this occasion and create ties between the people of the two countries.
He added that the 50th anniversary celebrations would be kicked off by sending a Buddha tooth relic, kept in Beijing's Lingguang Temple, to Thailand for people to pay homage to Sanam. Luang from December 4 to February 14 next year.
“I spoke to Ambassador Han Zhiqiang about our Prime Minister's meeting with President Xi Jinping.
He said President Xi had sent the message that Thailand and China have a special relationship that extends to all levels.
Next year will be a golden year for both countries,” he added.
Han Zhiqiang, the Chinese ambassador, said next year would mark a crucial historical milestone for the two countries and be a new starting point for bilateral relations.
Many activities will be organized to celebrate the golden jubilee
A special performance of the Chinese opera Dao Ma Dan was given during the China Thailand Roundtable to organize the Golden Jubilee celebrations on November 19, 2024.
Piyapak Sricharoen, director general of the East Asian Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, revealed that more than 50 activities commemorating this diplomatic milestone will take place in Thailand and China, in order to raise awareness of these special links.
Wu Zhiwu, deputy chief of mission at the Chinese Embassy, said China will contribute to the anniversary celebrations with various activities, including an aerobatic display by the Chinese Air Force.
Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), outlined the many festivals and tourism activities planned for the coming year.
She announced TAT's collaboration with around 100 Chinese influencers and opinion leaders to promote Thai tourism, citing Chinese New Year celebrations as an example.
TAT aims to attract 11 million Chinese visitors next year, matching pre-pandemic figures.
Thai-China Friendship Association president Korn Dabbaransi added that the association would organize various events aimed at promoting collaboration between the private, education and public sectors.
Including a gala dinner, a rally from Bangkok to Beijing and special television programs featuring Thais of Chinese origin and Chinese of Thai origin.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced a special collaboration with Pop Mart International Group Ltd, with a limited edition of DIMOO IP designated as “Thailand-China Golden Jubilee Special Friend”, scheduled for release in 2025 as part of celebrations.
