The significant drop in river levels in Guyana is causing difficulties in supplying gas bottles for the inhabitants of the communes of Grand-Santi, Maripasoula and Papaïchton, as well as their gaps.
In order to meet the needs of the population with regard to this primary energy resource, an exceptional system has been put in place by the prefect of Guyana and the local authority of Guyana.
The prefect of Guyana requested the assistance of the armed forces of Guyana to ensure the delivery of gas cylinders to the municipalities concerned.
The local authority of Guyana has undertaken to cover the financial cost of packaging the bottles allowing them to be transported by air in complete safety.
The 12.5 kg gas bottles delivered to Grand-Santi, Maripasoula and Papaïchton through this exceptional system will be sold at the price of €30 set by the prefectural decree published today. Furthermore, to limit the risk of shortage, depository stores are only authorized to sell one bottle per family and two bottles per restaurant by the end of the month.
Compliance with this pricing and the sales quota will be subject to regular checks.
