Return to the slopes last weekend for the Boulazac Fencing Circle, with the national M20 circuit (under 20) in Chaumont, the international Scaramouche Challenge in Angers in M15 and M17 as well as the first regional M13 circuit in the season.
A former pentathlete who has focused on fencing since last year, Clémence Bonnet participated in her first national junior circuit, in Chaumont. In a fairly tough group, she only won one of her six matches, having notably lost first against the fifth national team then by a touch against a member of the Moroccan national team and then against a pentathlete. triple world medalist last summer in the under-19 category. The Boulazacoise was therefore unable to get out of her group and finished 115th in the competition, while retaining her place in the national top 100 (89th). Note, in this event, the good second place of Ambre Mourceau, former CEB swordswoman now in Dax, who thus qualified for the world junior circuit in Burgos on December 14.
On Saturday, in Anjou, Clément Laugénie and Ronan Prioult were respectively 4th and 7th at the end of the under-15 group stage (M15). Clément lost by one touch in the round of 16, to place ninth overall, and Ronan was knocked out in the next round to finish sixth. The next day, upgraded to M17 to gain experience, they came out 9th and 17th in the groups. In the elimination phase, Ronan lost in the round of 16 to finish twentieth and Clément went one more round and finished eleventh in the competition after a defeat by two touches.
Regional gold for under-13s
The regional medals came from the U13s in Bordeaux. Justin Lafaye, for his first season in this category, came second in the groups with five wins for one loss and went on to the final, won against a shooter from Villeneuve-sur-Lot. Favorite of the competition, Caly Auguste, held her place. First in the group stage with only two hits conceded, she continued her way to the final, won 8-1 against Biarrote.
She thus strengthens her first regional place and gains confidence before the regional circuit of Villeneuve-sur-lot, where she will be upgraded to M15. There will also be the first departmental circuit for the youngest, without forgetting the national U17 circuits in Montélimar and seniors in Pont-à-Mousson before the holidays. In the meantime, Mathieu Gauvert has been selected by the Federation, as a replacement, for the next senior world circuit in Vancouver. And next weekend, Amaia Baraton, still small, will participate for the second consecutive year in the World Junior Challenge in Grenoble. She finished 72nd there last year.
