Second behind Slovenia in its qualifying group for Euro U21 2025 which will take place from June 11 to June 28 in Slovakia, the France U21 team began its preparation for the event. Gérald Baticle's Bleuets started this Friday against Italy in a match which ended with a draw (2-2). This time, France was organized with a few adjustments in the eleven. Organized in 3-5-2 with Obed Nkambadio in goal, the Bleuets could count on Ismaël Doukouré, Chrislain Matsima and Nathan Zézé in defense. Saël Kumbedi and Kassoum Ouattara played the roles of pistons while we found Andy Diouf and Valentin Atangana in the midfield. In front, Ange-Yoan Bonny and Mathys Tel were associated with Désiré Doué behind them. Germany lined up in 4-2-3-1 with Ansgar Knauff, Nick Woltemade and Maximilian Beier in support of Nicolo Tresoldi.

While the Germans took control of the ball in these first minutes, it was ultimately on a counter where they would shine. Launched behind the French defense on the right side, Nick Woltemade overflowed and crossed hard towards the penalty spot for Maximilian Beier. The Borussia Dortmund player carried out too long a check which was lodged on the right of the French goal (1-0, 4th). Galvanized by its start, Germany continued to push, but Maximilian Beier's shot went clearly over the top (9th). Manhandled in the management of depth, France was often limited in its placement and lacked serenity. Nick Woltemade also went on the counterattack to create danger, but Saël Kumbedi narrowly returned (22nd). The Olympique Lyonnais full-back then distinguished himself offensively. On a cross from Kassim Ouattara coming from the left, he followed up with a shot into the area which was captured by Jonas Urbig (39th).
The Bleuets snatched a draw
Just after, Nick Woltemade was going to hurt the French defense again and crossed in front of the goal. With a nice tackle, Ismaël Doukouré saved the Bleuets (40th). After a disappointing first act, Gérald Baticle's gang returned to the locker room with a one-goal deficit. After the break, France came back with better intentions and Valentin Atangana (48th) then Désiré Doué (49th) brought danger to the German goal, but the visitors were still going to do badly on the counterattack. Launched on his right wing, Ansgar Knauff crossed towards the far post. Too short to push back with a header, Ismaël Doukouré saw Maximilian Beier emerge behind his back to finish with a cross header which landed on the right of the French goal (2-0, 50th). In difficulty, France would finally come back following a foul by Brajan Gruda on Valentin Atangana in his area (61st).

Mathys Tel was responsible for adjusting the goalkeeper to the right of the goal and restarted the Bleuets (2-1, 62nd). Shortly after, Gérald Baticle launched new cartridges to try to equalize. Rayan Cherki and Christian Mawissa then brought fresh blood to the Tricolores, but it didn't really have the desired effect as the Germans got their foot back on the ball. Ayyoub Bouaddi, Lucien Agoumé, Arnaud Kalimuendo, Soungoutou Magassa and Kiliann Sildillia also appeared to force the decision (78th). France pushed at the end of the match and tried to find the solution and managed to get there. Shifted to the right of the area by Rayan Cherki, Kiliann Sildillia crossed back for Loum Tchaouna who scored from close range (2-2, 90th +3). The French U21 team saves its last impression of the year 2024 with this 2-2 draw against Germany.
