On Monday, November 18, the United States authorized Ukraine to use American long-range missiles against Russia. An authorization implemented the following night. The Ukrainian army struck the Russian border region, on an ammunition depot, a senior Ukrainian official confirmed to AFP. Sergei Lavrov, the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, accuses the United States and Ukraine of wanting escalation. He believes that these strikes mark “a new phase” in the conflict and accuses the United States of having directly helped, with experts, the Ukrainians to carry out these strikes.

For months, Moscow has been saying that NATO, the United States and the Europeans are providing assistance to Ukraine in terms of intelligence and target designation. Many experts consider this to be probable, but for the Russian authorities, this constitutes direct Western involvement in the conflict. Sergei Lavrov once again threatened the West, advising Western governments to read the new Russian nuclear doctrine which was officially endorsed by the Kremlin on Tuesday.

The minister promised a response “appropriate” to these bombings. Here again, the formula is known on the Russian side. This is what Moscow says every time a red line seems to be crossed, without this having, until now, particularly seemed to affect the conduct of the war. The Russian army already bombs Ukraine daily, with even an intensification of raids in recent days. The Russian army is still advancing in Donbass by launching multiple attacks on Ukrainian positions. In the Kursk region, fighting continues. The Russian response is therefore probably already underway.

Tuesday November 19 also marks 1,000 days of war, but this date is not particularly noted in Russia. The major pro-Kremlin government media do not report it, this would be a way of highlighting the failure of the Russian regime which thought it would take control of Ukraine in a few weeks, overthrow the current power and regain control of the country. . The war continues and continues to cause tens, if not hundreds of thousands of deaths.

However, the Russian media talk a lot about the war in Ukraine. In all television news, there are up to three reports devoted to it. The goal is to continue to put tension on society, to ensure that everyone feels concerned by this war and is eventually ready to accept the sacrifices that result from it.
