Natural gas resources (national production and tax package) reached 1,649 thousand tonnes of oil equivalent (ktoe), at the end of September 2024, recording, thus, a drop of 18% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the report on the energy situation for September 2024, published by the National Energy and Mining Observatory.
The production of dry commercial gas decreased, in fact, by 25%, the royalty on the passage of Algerian gas recorded a drop of 8% at the end of September 2024 compared to the end of September 2023, standing at 711 ktoe.
It is worth noting that the Hasdrubal field and Nawara field recorded a drop in production of 12% and 39% respectively.
Likewise, the Miskar field recorded a decrease in production of 19%.
As for southern commercial gas, its production increased by 12% at the end of September 2024 compared to the same period of 2023.
The observatory indicated a drop in the tax package on the transit of gas of Algerian origin of 8%, at the end of September 2024 compared to the end of September 2023.
Furthermore, the distribution of the total royalty between the royalty transferred to STEG and the exported royalty shows that the largest part is transferred to STEG (100% at the end of September 2024).
It should be noted that an excess of STEG levies on the royalty accruing to the Tunisian State was recorded, at the end of September 2024, by a quantity of 152 million cm3 (it is in the process of being regularized).
Regarding Algerian gas purchases, they recorded a drop of 2% between the end of September 2023 and the end of September 2024, to stand at 1810 ktoe.
National natural gas supply recorded a decline of 3% to 3526 ktoe.
