Launch of the winter service system in Côte-d’Or this Monday

This Monday, from the Traffic Information and Management Center (CIGT), François Sauvadet, president of the Departmental Council, presented the new reinforced system to guarantee safety and fluidity on the roads this winter.

This system, deployed until March 17, 2025, mobilizes more than 190 agents ready to intervene 24/7 to maintain and monitor the 5,710 km of roads in the departmental network.

A structured plan to face winter
On average, the Côte-d'Or records 10 days of snow and 20 days of ice each winter. Faced with these conditions, the Department organizes snow removal and salting according to three priority levels:
1. The main structuring roads (1,205 km) cleared of snow and/or salted 24 hours a day.
2. The intermediate network (2,017 km) processed from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
3. The secondary network of local interest (2,488 km) cleared of snow during the day, with salting targeted at risk areas.
For this, 109 departmental agents will be mobilized each week, supported by 23 private companies and 55 approved farmers.

Substantial resources
The Department has planned a stock of 10,390 tonnes of salt and 466 m³ of brine, essential to keeping the roads passable. On average, 2 million euros are invested each winter in this winter service system.

Real-time monitoring
The departmental network is monitored by 23 cameras transmitting live traffic conditions. Motorists can view these images and updated information via:
– Internet: inforoute21.fr offers real-time data on road conditions.
– Telephone: a voice server accessible 24 hours a day on 03 80 63 30 63.
– Radio: every morning at 7:35 a.m., Department agents intervene on Bleu Bourgogne to take stock of traffic conditions.

Call for caution
In the event of snow or ice, user safety remains an absolute priority. The Department invites all drivers to remain vigilant, well equipped, and to regularly consult the available information before hitting the road.
Planned end of the system: Monday March 17, 2025 at 12 p.m.
This winter, thanks to the mobilization of teams and resources deployed, the roads of the Côte-d'Or are ready to ensure your travels in complete safety.
