The Âge d’Or association today has 350 members. “This number, which is increasing, shows the important role of our association in the municipality”underlines President Jean-Pierre Cavalier. “The objectives and values of the Golden Age are to provide entertainment, entertainment and pleasant and varied activities to retired people and thus create social bonds by combating the isolation of single people.”
This is how, once a month, the association organizes meetings around a literary café in partnership with the media library. Not forgetting a meal followed by an afternoon of dancing or board games, karaoke, film club sessions, a photo workshop, excursions for the day or over several days. And, of course, throughout the year, there are recurring activities which take place morning and afternoon, such as gentle gymnastics or cardio, country line dancing, games, notably belote, tarot , lotteries, creative workshops, hiking, and many more. This program is followed very actively by seniors who meet in the premises of the Domaine du Bosquet made available by the municipality which also subsidizes the association.
“Although only being managed by volunteers who are also facilitators, without the help of the municipality the association could not exist”specifies the president. To all these activities and entertainment is added the Florilège choir, the flagship of the Golden Age, whose dynamism and talent of some 50 choristers literally thrilled the public during the Autumn Choralies where they performed for the first time.
“We sing with all the more pleasure because it’s really to spend a moment of relaxation, to come together around beautiful songs and melodies, sometimes re-orchestrated with the very personal touch of our choir director”detail the singers.
The choir director, Mélanie Martinez, directs her choristers with both rigor and empathy, moving across the stage from one desk to another according to the tempo, for assured success.
