A Russian strike made at least 11 dead, including two children, on Sunday evening in a nine-story residential building in the city of Sumyin northern Ukraine.
This attack – considered by the authorities to be the most significant in several months – occurred a few hours after a series of strikes targeting the Ukrainian electricity network as winter approached, which also left 7 dead.
Moreover, at least 10 people were killed and more than 40 injured in Russian strikes on the Ukrainian port of Odessa, on the shores of the Black Sea, Monday morning.
These new strikes come a day after Joe Biden authorized Ukraine to use long-range US missiles on Russian territorya decision described as “provocation” by the Kremlin.
This is the second time the United States has authorized the use of Western weapons on Russian soil, after allowing the use of HIMARS systems, a shorter-range weapon, to stem Russia’s advance in the Kharkiv region in May.
