A man dies on the SNCF track between Lille and Loos, despite the closure of the level crossing
The fatal accident was located on the portion between the CHR from Lille and Loos. The level crossing was temporarily closed, with fences and padlocks installed. Despite the emergency braking activated by the train driver, the collision could not be avoided: the forty-year-old was hit and died. His two friends managed to cross in time, he apparently slipped on the rails, again according to information collected by Lille news.
Despite the intervention of firefighters and attempts at resuscitation, the victim died shortly after the collision. Train traffic was interrupted on the Lille – Lens via Don and Lille – Béthune routes until 10:30 p.m., then significant disruptions continued. The return to normal took place the next day, Saturday, at 7:30 a.m.
