On November 29 and 30, France Télévisions will once again mobilize in the fight against rare diseases with the 38th edition of the Telethon. Like every year, a personality was chosen to be the sponsor of the event. This time it’s Mika. And a few days before the launch of this thirty-hour marathon, the singer and ex-juror of The Voice confided in TV 7 days (edition published on November 18, 2024).
“I'm not going to say I'm honored or excited, but extremely touched. It’s such a human and important cause, with concrete results every year. Everyone can get involved, there are no small donations. This is what gives a unique dimension to this fight. I had already been offered this role in the past, but I was unable to accept for scheduling reasons. This time it was the right time“, he declared to our colleagues.
Mika assures that he then realized the challenge that awaited him. “As soon as the process got underway, I realized how much I didn't know about the Telethon and how much I needed to learn. This role requires listening to the emotions and stories of each person you meet“, he recalled. He will also have the opportunity to demonstrate all the energy he possesses and which he needs to ensure these 30 hours of live ! “Maybe I'll regret it, but I'm ready to take the risk for this cause… It's remarkable, all these teams mobilized! And again, it's nothing compared to months and months of preparation… Apart from football and major events, what program can pride itself on being so unifying?“
Mika's family mobilizes for the Telethon
Mika still counts on the support of members of his family, whom he has requested. “I mobilized them to organize a sort of competition between them. I wanted them all to propose action in favor of the Telethon. We will see who will collect the most donations. The whole family gets involved, even my 10-year-old nephew gets involved, with his musical talents. My sister bakes the most delicious cakes in her town. My father… on the other hand, I think it's going to be a total disaster!“, he predicts with humor.
Clearly on all fronts, Mika will then be expected in the casting of the third season of The Pianoan English documentary series. “I'm going in search of the best amateur pianists in the country, accompanied by the famous Chinese pianist Lang Lang and the English presenter Claudia Winkleman. There is no winner, but we highlight the most incredible performance of the season. It’s the antistar show!“, he announces.
