A land conflict pitting residents of the localities of Lubenga and Cathedral against those of Kalendakanyi in the territory of Lubao (Lomami) left ten people dead and several injured, said a witness contacted on site on Sunday, November 17 by Radio Okapi.
According to the same source, nearly 500 people from the localities of Lubenga and Cathedral in the Bekalebue sector, Kembe Kakashi group, more or less 130 kilometers from Kabinda, live in the bush in inhumane conditions.
These residents took refuge in the bush after the clashes between them last week and their neighbors in the locality of Kalendakanyi.
Local sources indicate that residents of the locality of Kalendakanyi attacked their neighbors in the localities of Lubenga and Cathedral for four days last week.
A witness claims that, during these clashes, 9 people from the town of Lubenga were shot and killed.
Added to this are several injuries not yet counted.
On the Kalendakanyi side, only one person was also killed.
The same source specifies that they have been fighting over arable land for several years.
But this time, the conflicts rebounded a few weeks before the appearance of the winged ants, which bring money to several households.
Until Monday, the situation is still tense. But no security intervention was dispatched to the site.
The provincial minister of the interior as well as the territorial administrator of Lubao remained unreachable.
