Meeting at the Sorbonne, the jury for the Fénéon 2024 literary prize rewarded the first novelist Youness Bousenna for his work Imperfect presences (Shore). It thus succeeds Elisa Shua Dusapin2023 laureate for The old fire (Zoe).

With Imperfect presencesYouness Bousenna relates the intimate but disillusioned confession of Marc Pépin, 58 years old, great reporter and author of four novels. In yet another title, he describes his life without detour or concession, confiding his journey, from his middle childhood to his career which is coming to an end. Ignoring nothing, he recalls his best years, his own decline, the trials of life, including his separation from Claire and the death of his father.

First novelist

Born in in 1990, Youness Bousenna is a trained journalist. He works for media like Télérama, Socialter, Le Monde or even Limit. He is also a columnist for the magazine The life of ideas and editor-in-chief of the magazine PHILITTbiannual dedicated to philosophy and literature. In 2019, the journalist wrote Camus, eternity is here (First Part). Imperfect presences is his first novel.

Awarded by the Chancellery of Universities, the Fénéon Literary Prize rewards each year a young author, published in French, aged less than or equal to 35 years, of modest means, in order to help them continue their training. He is endowed with 2,000 euros.
