Sunday November 17, 2024, a little after 1 p.m., firefighters intervened for a fire that occurred in a 5-story HLM building, 18 rue des Mésanges in the Kerlédé district of Saint-Nazaire.
The fire broke out in the kitchen of a 4th floor apartment.
According to Sdis 44 (Loire-Atlantique departmental fire and rescue service), food left on a gas stove was the cause of the disaster.
The firefighters quickly contained it. The fire did not extend beyond the kitchen, which was completely blackened by the significant release of smoke.
The relocated family
These fumes “slightly inconvenienced” the four occupants of the accommodation. But, after an assessment carried out by the rescuers, their condition did not require transport to hospital.
The family was relocated by the landlord Silene.
19 firefighters and 5 of their engines were mobilized for this intervention.
