Originally from the Ivory Coast, she remembers her first stay in Canada as a teenager and talks about the attachment she has to FSA ULaval, where she experienced a pivotal period.
It was in Quebec that Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara began her career, before returning to her country of origin a few years later, driven by the desire to contribute to its development. She then became an economic and commercial advisor for the mining, oil and energy sector at the Canadian Embassy.
In the following decade, she achieved a significant accomplishment by becoming the first woman to serve as country director at Endeavor Mining. In a heavily male-dominated industry, Laetitia Gadegbeku-Ouattara demonstrates an innovative spirit and acts as a pioneer, overcoming obstacles in a different cultural context.
She is also the first woman to become vice-president of the Professional Group of Miners of Côte d’Ivoire, an achievement which earned her recognition from the British organization Women n Mining UK, which ranked her in 2022 among the hundred most influential women in the sector.
Proud of her Ivorian roots, she is a model for generations of young girls to whom she wishes to prove that it is possible to aim for the heights. Humble and determined, Ms. Gadegbeku-Ouattara is actively committed to Ivorian youth and women, notably by participating in the Women’s Investment Club Côte d’Ivoire, the first exclusively female investment club in the country.
