A tragic accident occurred this Sunday afternoon on the Alès mechanical center circuit. Two men were killed at the wheel of a powerful sports car after renting the track as part of a private driving session. According to the first elements of the investigation, the car, an Alpine Renault, left the road at high speed before hitting a wall.

The pilot, aged 74, was killed instantly. His passenger died a few dozen minutes later, despite the intervention of emergency services. The public prosecutor of Alès, Abdelkrim Grini, opened an procedure to find the causes of death. In this context, the driver's body will be autopsied this Tuesday to determine whether he could possibly have been the victim of illness. Alcohol and drug tests were also ordered. Finally, the vehicle, which belonged to the deceased septuagenarian, will also be the subject of an expert assessment to check whether a technical fault could be the cause of the fatal exit from the road.
