JAKARTA – Several NASA astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) will perform spacewalks or walking activities outside the station. This mission is given to carry out certain tasks. The 90th spacewalk is scheduled to take place on Monday, June 24. However, this mission was canceled because the spacesuits that were to be used by astronauts Tracy Caldwell Dyson and Mike Barprav leaked coolants. Initially, Dyson and Barprav had dropped their clothes off at battery power and opened the ISS’s main air vent at around 7:46 p.m. WIB. After realizing the problem, both astronauts gave reports of problems with water in their clothing. At 19:52 WIB, Dyson and Barry received notice from Mission Control of cancellation. While the NASA TV show was still running, Dyson had stated that this clothing cooling water leak appeared to be coming from the Service Cooling Unit (SCU) in the clothing. Although this situation was dangerous, both astronauts were fine. “I could see ice crypts flowing down there, and then, like a snow machine, there was ice forming in the escous harbor,” Dyson said. Fortunately, they were still in the pallet with an open exterior door when they realized the leak had occurred. This is NASA’s second delay against the 90th space mission.
