A fire broke out very early in the night from Saturday to Sunday November 17, 2024, around four o’clock, in the basement of a building on rue Ambroise-Thomas, in the city center of Metz (Moselle).
We are very close to the Hisler-Even bookstore, near the cathedral. “We have hired nearly forty vehicles. Around a hundred firefighters are mobilized. There are two basement levels and therefore access is quite difficult. There is a lot of smoke. For the moment the fire is not progresses further. We have put specific resources on site with building experts.specifies to France 3 Lorraine, Frédéric Delfosse, commander SDIS 57 and head of the operational room.
On site, a security perimeter was installed during the intervention, “with a red zone where no one passes. We don’t know the origin of the fire.” Around twenty residents were evacuated. They are installed at the Hôtel-de-Ville. Four people suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
