A restaurant in Issy-les-Moulineaux, in the suburbs, was the scene of a hostage taking this Saturday, November 16 at the start of the afternoon. The owner's son, armed with a knife, held back several employees, the Paris fire brigade (BSPP) reported. According to a police source, the madman was stuck on the spot “three or four employees“, but no customers in the establishment.

An imposing security cordon surrounds the restaurant, nestled a few meters from the Paris ring road, the media on site show. The police are canvassing the area, so far we do not have the exact number of hostages or indications of other weapons. The facts were reported shortly before 1 p.m., a mediator from the research and intervention brigade (BRI) was mobilized to prevent it from turning into a tragedy, the man having suicidal tendencies.

He is unknown to the justice services. The authorities invited local residents not to hinder the action of the police and the police headquarters insisted that the security and emergency forces be allowed to operate with complete peace of mind. Numerous police vehicles and armed and helmeted agents secure the perimeter on the outskirts of the district, a stone's throw from the capital's southwest ring road.
