Another problem on the table of the leaders in place concerning the announced drop in prices. Consumers hoping to buy their baguette at 150 CFA francs risk being disillusioned.

Indeed, the Association of Industrial Millers of Senegal (AMIS) refuses to apply the new prices set by the government for wheat flour. During the National Consumer Council, held last Friday, the government established the price of type 55 bakery flour at 15,200 francs per 50 kg bag, and that of improved bakery flour at 15,700 francs per bag of 50 kg. 50 kg.

However, the millers decided not to apply these new prices, citing the risk of selling at a loss, according to an internal source at AMIS cited by seneweb. This source also specifies that the financial situation of millers does not allow them to follow this measure. The millers claim to have been consulted in May by the Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, but no consensus was found regarding this measure.

“A second meeting was supposed to take place to find a definitive solution, but this did not materialize. Millers suddenly learned of this decline without prior consultation. All these reasons lead us to not being able to apply the prices set by the government,” explains our interlocutor.
