Moscow remains “the only obstacle to a just peace” for Ukraine, the G7 countries said on Saturday in a declaration marking 1,000 days since the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territory.

“We remain united to contribute to the fight for sovereignty, freedom, independence, territorial integrity and reconstruction” of Ukraine, says a statement released by Italy, which chairs the G7 this year.

“Russia remains the only obstacle to a just and lasting peace. The G7 confirms its commitment to imposing high costs on Russia through sanctions, export controls and other effective measures. We remain united alongside Ukraine,” they assure.
