The noise had been persistent for several months. Now Laurence Ruffin, the sister of François Ruffin expected to be head of the list of the Reds/Greens of Piolle in the municipal elections, comes out of the woodwork by agreeing to speak in the Dauphiné Libéré.
A FIRST STEP TOWARDS AN APPLICATION
Of course, she does not officially declare herself a candidate right away. Questioned by Eve Moulinier, she explains for the moment being “interested in getting involved for Grenoble“and have the desire to”work with a collective“. A media outing which aims to test herself 15 months from the deadline: she lays a first stone by indicating that she will participate in the Camp Piolle campaign in order to see how the idea of her candidacy is received by the people of Grenoble. .
RUFFIN DOES NOT WANT TO SEE THE CRITICISM
A pre-candidacy from the Piolle camp, because it does not intend to call into question the record of the Greens/LFI over the last 10 years and is in line with their lineage. “We still have a great city! I, like most locals, don't like it when people criticize it.” she proclaims to the DL, affirming that she is “obviously from the left“. Mass is said: Laurence Ruffin belongs to the camp of those who consider that we should above all not talk about problems, as if not mentioning them would make them disappear. For 10 years we have been piling up dust underneath, the carpet is no longer big enough.
“NO LINE BREAK”
The left-wing daily Libération, which also looked into the subject by interviewing someone close to the Piolle camp, confirms that Ruffin intends to do Piolle in all cases: “owe want to continue what we created in 2014, we explain. There will be a break in incarnation but no break in line.” They have learned nothing and intend to continue in exactly the same way. On the basis of the policies implemented, we will find the continuity of what they have created since 2014: massive impoverishment, decline in the quality of life, general degradation of public space, warming of the city…
RUFFIN ALREADY SOLD YOUR STORY …
But also on the form. As a good communicator, Ruffin is already starting to distill elements of language to write her story-telling and see if it resonates with Grenoblois. She sells herself like a newcomer from Amiens who has made Grenoble her “city of heart“, as the head of a private company (the SCOP ALMA) but obviously committed to the social question, as someone who intends to join a left-wing collective…
…WHICH IS A COPY-PASTE OF THAT OF PIOLLE
Do you feel like you're reading something you've seen before? It's normal. Take a leap back 10 years and remember this candidate from Béarn who came to settle in Grenoble; this private executive who everywhere sold his story of resignation from HP in the name of great social ideals; this left-wing citizen wanting to move forward within a left-wing gathering… That's ecology: we are offered recycled materials.
THE FRONT SIDE IS LESS SELLING
So much for their right side, the one we present to the voters. We will then have discovered the side of Piolle: the actions in Singapore, the comfortable compensation for his departure from HP, the authoritarianism which takes precedence over collective decision, the legal cases which are beginning to accumulate, obviously his record far from the promises original. It has not yet been declared that the side of Ruffin is emerging little by little, as we revealed to you in September: husband appointed by Eric Piolle director of the Villeneuve-VO neighborhood management for 9 years, positions that are more than tendentious on wearing the burqa, a very easy lifestyle which allows him to take a long break in Africa or even a 6-month cruise…
RUFFIN IN THE CITY AND PIOLLE IN THE METRO?
But whatever. For “to continue what we created in 2014″, the clan is already salivating over the scenario they dream of: Ruffin as Mayor of Grenoble, Piolle as President of the metro. For several months he has been accelerating towards this latest ambition, accentuating the fractures with the majority of Christophe Ferrari as we saw again at the last metropolitan council. Those who vote for Ruffin thinking that it will change Piolle must understand that in doing so, they are voting to propel the current mayor to the metro… and therefore give him even more power to cause harm to our city.
LHEUREUX AND BELAIR ARE ALSO SEEN THERE
There is still a way to go before this disaster scenario comes true. First of all, the vote of Grenoblois which could destroy the clan's hopes of remaining in power, as the alternation grows in power around Alain Carignon. And before that, the question of the head of the Piolliste list is not yet resolved since Libération confirms that the Green deputies Margot Belair (urban planning) and Lucille Lheureux (culture) would see themselves in the chair.
But Lheureux is isolated even internally as her repeated antics cast opprobrium on the Reds/Greens; and Belair is a pure green apparatchik, simple repeater of the official discourse, and her companion departmental advisor Green is under investigation opened in 2023 for “suspicions of favoritism”. They are also branded by the Piolle report. Not ideal candidates for re-election.
WILL THE RESOLVE LET IT HAPPEN?
On the other hand, there is the question of the France Insoumise fringe of the municipal majority (Elisa Martin, Alan Confesson…). Motivated by electoral results which make them the locomotive of the left, they could claim the head of the list. Furthermore, not sure that they agree so easily to give way to the sister of Deputy François Ruffin, who divorced with a bang from Mélenchon a few months ago and has since been violently reviled by the guru's sect.
FOR GRENOBLES TO WRITE THEIR DESTINY
Laurence Ruffin, for her part, ignores these questions and is already moving forward to occupy the field. Strictly identical sociological profile, same way of constructing a story for voters, desire to strictly pursue the same policy… We understand that she does not want to be seen as the “sister of”, but it is in any case very clear that she is none other than the successor of Eric Piolle in the feminine.
This is the Greens' final discovery to try to keep the town hall despite their very weakening after 10 years in office: to propose the same thing as in 2014. Only change: the sex of the head of the list, hoping to make believe voters that everything will be different since Laurence Ruffin is a woman. Risky bet: not sure that longer hair is enough to forget a decade of decay in the city. In 15 months, the people of Grenoble have their destiny in their hands.
