“It is my political death that is being demanded”considered Marine Le Pen on Friday on TF1 after the sentence of ineligibility with immediate execution which was requested against her by prosecutors during the trial of the assistants of RN MEPs. The defense pleadings are expected on Monday, before a judgment from the criminal court which must be rendered in early 2025.
Evoking an indictment “outrageous” et “incommensurate with the slightest indictment of the same type”the member for Pas-de-Calais expressed a “feeling of revolt”according to her also felt by “millions of French people”, “and even beyond my own political camp”.
It is my political death that is being demanded.
My political survival will depend on the implementation of this political death sentence, with provisional execution or not. This is the aim, I believe, of this operation which was launched by political adversaries. pic.twitter.com/0LBSg3y7w5

Heavy political issues
Marine Le Pen, 24 other people and the RN have been on trial since Monday September 30, 2024, a trial with heavy political stakes for the leader of the far right.
The prosecution is asking for five years in prison, two of which are subject to change, and five years of ineligibility, against Marine Le Pen. She also announced during her requisitions that she was demanding ineligibility sentences against all the defendants, “modulated” depending on each person's responsibilities.
Immediate application
Prosecutors requested that this sentence be accompanied by a “provisional execution”that is to say that it applies immediately, including if the three-time presidential candidate appeals, believing that she is not accountable for the “ambitions” policies of the defendants. A fine of 300,000 euros was also requested against him.
Such pain “would prohibit the defendants from running in future local or national elections”said the prosecutor in front of the three-time presidential candidate seated in the first row of defendants. But “we are here in a judicial forum and the law applies to everyone”.
