The bubble for Rodez.
Angoulême is as good at comics as it is at football. The Charente club, accustomed to good performances in the Coupe de France, scalped its first Ligue 2 club. Rodez lost 2-1 against the National 2 resident. A goal in the first period (Paul Venot), one in the second (Théo Chauvier), and a little scare at the end of the match when Tawfik Bentayeb reduced the gap, but a qualification for the vice champion of D2 in 1969. The best epic from Angoulême? A semi-final against Strasbourg in 1947.
Ligue 2 clubs don't care about the Coupe de France like Ligue 1 clubs don't care about the Europa League.
For the anecdote, before the match, Angoumois coach David Giguel praised his opponent: “Rodez is a club from which the ACFC can and must draw inspiration, because not long ago it was at the level we are at. He knew how to rebuild, he has real human values and he went from National 2 to Ligue 2 in a short time.”
Nice technique.
