Three billion m³ in the basements

The Lussagnet site, opened in 1957 and classified as “Seveso high threshold”, is one of the largest underground gas storage centers in France. With the Izaute site (Gers), also in the Teréga region, these two locations represent 24% of French gas storage capacity.

Lussagnet stores three billion m³ of natural gas in its basements. It generally comes from the Nordic countries and in particular from the Norwaybut alsoEngland a you Portugalas well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, gas from the former USSR has been practically absent.

Téréga also has a public service mission since the company ensures the continuity of supply of natural gas, the supply of natural gas of last resort to non-domestic customers ensuring missions of general interest or even the quality and price of products and services provided.

Safety question, the place remains a sensitive place due to its strategic position (it is at the crossroads of the Iberian zone and the South-West of France). A anti-drone systemanti-intrusion wires as well as surveillance cameras are installed in the four corners of the site. To enter, we had to show our credentials.
