New: more design possibilities with the Plus label
The Plus label is a new designation that offers more design possibilities for Knauf fire-retardant systems. In this regard, architects and designers can contact a Knauf consultant directly who has the right data, based on experience, to meet specific design needs. This label allows greater flexibility in the application of Knauf products in different construction conditions while keeping fire safety in mind.
New certificates for Brio and K2
New tests were carried out for these two systems, which led to the obtaining of better certificates.
Brio is a dry floor system made of fiber plaster boards available in different variants, such as Brio 18, Brio 23, Brio MW, Brio WF and Brio EPS. This system provides top-to-bottom fire resistance when applying wood floors to wood or steel beams. Depending on the variant and construction chosen, it can contribute to both fire safety and the thermal and acoustic insulation of the floor.
K2 refers to the fire protection capacity according to the classification standard EN 13501-2 and indicates to what extent the covering (such as plasterboard) protects the materials behind it from fire. The K2 classification can be applied to different types of underlays, resulting in greater flexibility in the design and construction of fire-resistant constructions.
Complete range for maximum fire safety
The entire Knauf range is distinguished by an innovative combination of fire prevention and functionality. Here is an overview of the main systems:
- Fire resistant partitions: These partitions, including the W111, W112, W113 and W115 systems, provide high-quality protection between spaces and can be used for both interior walls and to separate floors. Depending on the coating and structure chosen, they can achieve a fire resistance of 120 minutes (class EI 30, EI 60, EI 120) and are therefore the right choice in buildings, for greater safety and fire protection.
- Fire-resistant counter-partitions : suitable for renovation and improvement of insulation with systems such as W628B and W629, these wall-mounted partitions are suitable for improving existing walls both aesthetically and in terms of fire safety. They can easily be used in rooms requiring additional protection, without having to modify the existing wall structure.
- Fire-resistant ceilings: To ensure safe egress and structural stability, fire-resistant ceilings such as the D112 and D113 systems are essential. These ceilings maintain their load-bearing capacity and prevent the collapse of the ceiling structure, which contributes to the safety of those present while facilitating the intervention of emergency services.
- Fire-resistant false ceilings: the false ceilings of the D112, D113 and D122 systems can be used when aesthetics and fire safety must go hand in hand. These ceilings can easily be integrated into different construction conditions and provide a clean finish, without compromising on fire resistance.
- Stable, fire-resistant directly attached ceilings: In cases where a ceiling is fixed directly against a wooden structure, the Knauf D150 and D151 systems not only offer excellent fire resistance, but they are also durable and simple to install.
- Inspection hatches for walls and ceilings: in order to easily access installations or technical rooms without compromising fire safety, Knauf has developed different inspection hatches. These integrate perfectly into the systems and allow safe and efficient access to hidden spaces.
- Fire protection for beams and columns: solutions for fireproof coating of beams and columns (protection on two, three and four sides), with specifications for different types of profile.
