Israeli strikes targeted areas south of Beirut on Thursday morning, according to the official Lebanese press agency, after a new call to evacuate from the Israeli army which continues its bombings against Hezbollah strongholds in Lebanon.
AFPTV images showed a thick cloud of gray smoke hovering over the southern suburbs of Beirut. Since Tuesday, at least six series of strikes have targeted the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, day and night.
Thursday morning, the Arabic-language spokesperson for the Israeli army, Avichay Adraee, published on X a call to evacuate for the areas of Chouaifat al-Omrousiya and al-Ghobeiry, south of Beirut.
A third “violent raid”
“Israeli military aircraft” carried out two strikes on the al-Ghobeiry neighborhood, and a third “violent raid” targeted the Chouaifat al-Omrousiya region, on the outskirts of the southern suburbs, according to the Israeli news agency. ANI reports nighttime Israeli bombardments – air raids and artillery fire – leading to “the destruction of a number of buildings and residential apartments” in Bint Jbeil.
Bint Jbeil had been the scene of fierce resistance by Hezbollah fighters against the Israeli army during their previous war in 2006. The Israeli army had not been able to take control of this locality, located more than three kilometers from the border.
