After the Olympic sevens title won this summer by Port-de-Boucain native Rayan Rebbadj, playing at three-quarter center with RC (Top 14), rugby sevens is on the rise in Provence. This is evidenced by the new global title won by the Zebras of (Staps), during the recent interuniversity world championship, which took place recently in Rome.

Two players playing in the RC Châteaurenard Espoirs category, in this case Marius Ilin (third row) and Victor Fesquet (center), took part in this conquering adventure. “This competition proved to be fascinating and particularly rich in twists and turns.explains Marius Ilin, student at the Faculty of Science and Sport of Aix-Marseille (Staps). We had prepared well for this meeting. And we responded.”

Indeed, the Provençals dictated their law without blinking, facing their Malaysian, Italian, Spanish and Belgian student counterparts. Before winning against a university delegation from the Ile-de- region: the Leonard de Vinci school. “Emotionally, we experienced very strong moments. We were really determined to see our adventure through to the end.“, explains the other Espoirs of RC Châteaurenard, Victor Pesquet.
