In three weeks, the municipality of Courseulles-sur-Mer (Calvados) was affected by two fires which occurred at night and which do not appear to be accidental.
The first occurred on the night of October 17 to 18, 2024. Around 1 a.m., garbage containers were the target of fire, affecting a building in the Marinas.
“The consequences could have been dramatic”
“Another fire broke out during the night from Saturday (November 9) to Sunday (November 10), around 1 a.m., avenue de la Libération,” communicates the town of Courseulles-sur-Mer.
The City strongly condemns these malicious and dangerous acts. The fires were brought under control by the firefighters, to whom the City sincerely thanks, but the consequences could have been dramatic if the fire had spread more quickly.
Avenue de la Libération, mailboxes were hit and a road sign defaced. This led the municipality to file a complaint “Friday November 15 at the latest”.
Video surveillance images studied
“The gendarmerie investigation is underway and the City’s video surveillance images are being studied,” specifies the municipality. Joined, the gendarmerie services confirm to the newspaper Liberté Caen “that an investigation is underway for obviously intentional fires. »
