The lawyer for Konstantinos Tsagaroulis, 20, did not make the request on Thursday when the accused returned to court at the Laval courthouse.

On May 29, he allegedly brutally killed Irina Draghicescu, 46, by inflicting around thirty stab wounds on her in the Armand-Frappier wooded area, in the Chomedey district, in Laval.

The victim, a mother of two children who worked as a real estate agent, would likely have been targeted at random.

In the minutes following the horrific murder of the forty-year-old, the young suspect was arrested by police less than a kilometer from the crime scene.

Ms. Draghicescu was only taking a simple walk in this small wooded area with several trails and extremely popular with outdoor enthusiasts in the area.

The victim had no chance. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accused will return to court next September.
