Firefighters called to the scene of the triple murder that occurred in Brossard in September 2022 described the scene, during the 3rd day of the trial of Mohamed Al Ballouz at the Longueuil courthouse, on November 13.

Frédéric Brousseau was part of the first convoy of firefighters from the Longueuil Agglomeration Fire Safety Service (SSIAL) who were called to go to the apartment on boul. Saint-Laurent around midnight.

Mr. Brosseau, who has four and a half years of experience in the profession, headed towards the master bedroom, looking for victims. He saw water on the floor and smelled smoke.

Upon entering the room, he realized that the alarm was no longer hanging from the ceiling, then noticed the lifeless body of Synthia Bussières on the floor of the bathroom adjoining the bedroom.

“There was a lot of blood,” he described.

While assisting her, Mr. Brousseau noticed that her eyes were open, but that she seemed “semi-rigid”. He transported him to the elevator with a colleague to perform resuscitation maneuvers on him. Another of his colleagues in turn brought an equally inanimate child who had blue lips. This could be due to a lack of oxygen according to him.

“One of his arms was floating,” he said, recounting that water and blood had accumulated on the floor of the elevator. His head was very soft.”

At the time of the cardiovascular maneuvers, he noticed injuries on Ms. Bussières’ body, in particular blood flowing from the center of the throat.

“It was not an easy intervention,” he admitted.

Save the victims

Another SSIAL firefighter who accompanied Frédéric Brousseau recounted his intervention. While Mr. Brosseau attended to the woman in the bathroom, Nathan Sicotte described seeing Mohamed Al Ballouz on the bed in the master bedroom with his two children. The three were on their backs.

Mr. Sicotte managed to wake up Al Ballouz first by rubbing him hard on the sternum. Subsequently, there were no signs of life. The firefighter then transported the two young people to the elevator to perform resuscitation maneuvers.

The youngest seemed to be in cardio-respiratory arrest, according to Mr. Sicotte, but none had any injuries.

“Our job was to save the victims as quickly as possible,” he explained.

At this time, the firefighter was unaware of the nature of the events.

“They were two very soft and bluish young people,” admitted Mr. Sicotte, proposing the hypothesis that they seemed deceased. [Le plus jeune] had no pulse.”

Testimonies from other firefighters and paramedics will follow in the coming days.

Recall that Mohamed Al Ballouz, who now presents herself as a woman named Levana Ballouz, is accused of the unpremeditated murder of Synthia Bussières, the premeditated murder of her two children and arson.
