The American manufacturer You’re here is well known for its regular price changes during the same model year. While the manufacturer’s sales seem to be going less well, the Model 3 refreshed for 2024 sees its MSRP drop below $50,000. However, this is mainly due to a decision by the British Columbia government with its rebate program for the purchase of an electric vehicle.
A more affordable Model 3
Since the Tesla Model 3 arrived on the market, this car has experienced a number of fluctuations in its retail price. However, this is the first time that the model benefiting from the refresh has obtained such a low price, just under the $50,000 mark. Indeed, the price reduction applied by Tesla brings the MSRP of the rear-wheel drive Model 3 to $49,990 and the long-range dual-motor version to $59,990. As for the Performance version, it retains the same retail price. Remember that, to these amounts, transport and preparation costs must always be added.

It should be mentioned that this price drop is not insignificant. Indeed, it follows a major announcement from British Columbia which radically modifies its rebate programs for the purchase of an electric vehicle. Among the changes announced, there is the classification of certain types of vehicles which is reviewed; as an example, SUVs are now considered cars for eligibility.
However, the one that directly affects the Tesla Model 3 is the reduction in the starting MSRP which goes from $55,000 to $50,000 in order to be eligible for the provincial rebate. This is why Tesla immediately reacted with the price of its Model 3.
The fact that sales are currently slow at Tesla most likely pushed the manufacturer to make this maneuver, since its sales could have continued to decline.
In any case, the reduction in rebates on the purchase of an electric vehicle will also have an impact on consumers. It will be interesting to see if other automakers will follow Tesla in lowering their prices.
