Emmanuel Macron will go this Thursday, November 14 to the French Academy for the publication of the ninth edition of his dictionary, which will be directly handed over to the Head of State during a ceremony under the Dome at 3 p.m. A press conference will take place at 4:45 p.m.

The publication of this dictionary began under the leadership of the former permanent secretary of the French Academy Maurice Druon. The 9th edition is experiencing a “increase in vocabulary linked to the development of science and technology, the evolution of morals and modes of communication”, according to the French Academy. This dictionary will contain 53,000 words.

A letter initialed in the hand of Joan of Arc on November 9, 1429 will leave the municipal archives of Riom (Puy-de-Dôme), to be loaned to the British Library in London. This is the first time that the missive from the Maid of Orléans will be exhibited outside the city.

The letter is kept in a secure safe, away from light, temperature variations and dust. This national treasure is a call to support France during the Hundred Years’ War, addressed to “people of the Church, bourgeois and inhabitants of the town of Riom”.
