Tensions surrounding the social plan at Audi Brussels culminated in management being sequestered by staff, leading to the intervention of the police.
This Wednesday, discussions on the social level between the management of Audi Brussels and the unions took an unexpected turn. Dissatisfied with the compensation proposals deemed insufficient, the workers decided to go up to the offices where the negotiations were being held. According to Dominique Bray (CNE), management offered “peanuts” as compensation, which sparked a strong reaction.
Police intervention
Faced with this tense situation, management interrupted negotiations. “There is social sequestration. The workers want the negotiations to move forward and demand that management take their demands into account,” explained Gregory Dascotte (FGTB). During the altercation, a union member was slightly injured and taken to hospital. The police, called to the scene, were still present around 4 p.m., as our colleagues from DH specify.
On site, around 6 p.m., our journalist Laura Van Lerberghe confirms that the situation still remains quite tense.
Outside, workers impatiently awaited the outcome of the discussions. The situation remains tense as both sides seek to reach an agreement.
