France-Israel match: “There is no particular threat, but zero risk does not exist”, announces the Ministry of the Interior before Thursday’s meeting

The Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, was present on the TF1 set this Tuesday, November 12.

This Thursday, November 14, will face the Israel football team as part of the Nations League. A match under high tension for the authorities who fear excesses after the violence which has already taken place in Amsterdam where several Israeli supporters were attacked and in a context of war in the Middle East.

If the security system that will be put in place during this match has already been revealed, the Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, declared during his visit to the TF1 set, this Wednesday, November 12, in the evening, that even “if there is no particular threat, zero risk does not exist”.

He continues by indicating that “measures were taken before the match, during and after, near the stadium, but also, in the RER and in public transport. We mobilized a lot of law enforcement, stewards and the resources of our law to carry out checks, searches and pat-downs.

In addition, the minister specifies that the Raid will be “well present in the stadium”.

Surveillance in neighborhoods frequented by people of the Jewish faith

Special surveillance will also be put in place in neighborhoods that are “frequented by our compatriots of the Jewish faith”, specifies Bruno Retailleau. “There is no question of us taking the risk of seeing what happened in Amsterdam.”

The member of the Barnier government ends by assuring that it is not “no question of backing down, of submitting […] to sowers of hatred” and that the match between France and Israel will take place this Thursday.
