The UdeM Eclipse team, co-led by members of iREx, received the Rector’s Prize from the University of Montreal in the Collaboration category.

The Eclipse team, formed in 2022 at the initiative of members of our institute, was recognized for the extraordinary collaborative work it deployed during the solar eclipse of April 8.

Made up of staff members from several university entities, the team, which includes Marie-Eve Naud, Nathalie Ouellette, Frédérique Baron and Heidi White from iREx, notably made it possible to distribute more than 70,000 pairs of glasses. protection, created a dedicated website, coordinated events on the day of the eclipse on UdeM campuses and produced engaging content on social media. In addition, 120 student ambassadors, trained by iREx, were deployed on UdeM campuses and in various locations in Quebec to provide live explanations and lead educational activities in schools, community centers and libraries. . Finally, numerous media appearances were made by the team’s specialists.

The team also included Benjamin Augereau, Catherine Charbonneau and Geneviève O’Meara from the Office of Communications and Public Relations, Véronique Boyer from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Benjamin Constantineau from Libraries, Langis Michaud from the School of Optometry, Jean- Philippe Provost from the Faculty of Arts and Sciences and Manoue Rajotte-Lafortune from the Alumni and Donors Network.
