Triple murder in Brossard: a father accused of killing his partner and children wants to represent himself alone

Having been represented by two of the best criminal lawyers in Quebec, a man accused of killing his partner and their two children in Brossard in 2022 has chosen to represent himself alone during his trial which should begin this fall.

Mohamad Al Ballouz, 37, is accused of the premeditated murders of his two children, aged 2 and 5, as well as the unpremeditated murder of his partner, Synthia Bussières, 38 years old.

The bodies of the victims were found on September 25, 2022 in their apartment on the 12th floor of a condo building on Saint-Laurent Street, in Brossard.

First represented by Me Marc Labelle, the accused dropped the renowned criminal lawyer in the middle of a preliminary investigation last January. The procedures continued despite everything.

Me Alexandra Longueville then entered the case, but she recently withdrew.

Mohamad Al Ballouz announced yesterday that he would represent himself for his trial.

The accused was hoping to stand trial on reduced charges of the unpremeditated murders of his two children, ages 2 and 5.

But at the end of his preliminary investigation, Judge Julie-Maude Greffe instead summoned him to trial for the initial charges of premeditated murder of the children and unpremeditated murder of his partner.

The trial, which will be held before a jury, will begin next November. It is planned to last six weeks.

A publication ban prevents us from reporting the facts of the case.

Furthermore, the accused recently asked to be addressed as Ms. Ballouz.

Judge Greffe agreed, specifying that the accusations were still brought in the name of Mohamad Al Ballouz.
