In Indre, after the fire, solidarity is put in place

After the arson which ravaged the house of a family in Saint-Maur, on the night of Thursday 7 to Friday 8 November 2024, solidarity is being organized in the town. At US Saint-Maur, a football club where two daughters of the family play, on Friday, the call for donations was launched “in order to recover clothes/furniture or anything else helping them to rebuild following this terrible ordeal”. A movement joined by the municipality. Tuesday and Wednesday, she opened a municipal hall to collect donations.

“I brought two pillows. They were never used. If they can be useful…” In the room of the Jardin-d'Adèle, in Saint-Maur, visitors enter, loaded with business, and leave empty-handed. Since 9 a.m. on Tuesday, many residents of Saint-Maur and surrounding areas have shown their generosity, following the call for donations launched by the municipality.

“Only the four walls of their house remain”

In the small party room, things are piling up. “It’s nice to see the solidarity that’s being establishedunderlines Patricia Miguet, vice-president of the Municipal Social Action Center. Since this morning, more than 50 people have passed through. »

Among these good souls, François and Martine wanted to bring clothes. “It’s the least we can do. We put ourselves in the place of these people who have lost everything. Only the four walls of their house remainbreathes François. Even if we don't know them at all, if the same thing happened to us, it would warm our hearts to benefit from the mutual help of the residents. »

In their bags, “a jacket, sweaters, a vest, a blouse…”explains Martine. However “for shoes, we had nothing”. No problem, there are already a few stored in a corner of the room. “And for food, is it good? » asks François. “From Friday, at the town hall, we distributed food vouchers to them and we went to collect warm clothes, shoes and basic necessities from Secours populaire”reassures Patricia Miguet.

For now, the chosen one wants to stick to clothes, even if she does not refuse bed sheets and bath items brought by donors. “At the moment, the family is still at the hotel. Normally until this Wednesday, before they are relocated to an apartment in Saint-Maur. » Remaining evasive about this accommodation “found on Friday by the municipality”the elected official indicates that the municipality “Perhaps we will call again once they are installed, when we have a better understanding of the needs. »

Some anticipate, “Some Castelroussins left us their contact details, telling us that they had duplicate household appliances”. Enough to consider a slightly less painful resettlement for this affected family.

To make a donation, the Jardin-d'Adèle room, avenue de la Mairie, in Saint-Maur, is open Wednesday 13, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. We are particularly looking for clothing for young people aged 12-18, women (38-40 and 44-50), men (XL – XXL) and shoes from 36 to 39 and 44-45.
