On the Interlagos circuit in Sao Paulo (Brazil), a young nine-year-old Argentine driver lost his life during a test session. The news was announced by the organizers of the competition in which the boy was to participate.
Died Monday
Last Friday, during free practice opening the fourth round of the Honda Junior SuperBike Brazil Cup, a young 9-year-old rider was the victim of a accident on the circuit. After his fall, he was taken to hospital. Sadly, he passed away on Monday June 17. “SuperBike Brasil announces, with great sadness and regret, the death of the rider Lorenzo Somaschini Monday”the organizers said in a press release. “The entire SuperBike Brasil team is dismayed and expresses its sincere condolences to Lorenzo’s family and friends”they continued, report Le Figaro and other French media.

“…the factors have aligned”
Diego Pierluigi, former runner and coach of the young pilot, paid tribute by publishing a moving message on social networks: “It is with a broken heart and soul that I must say goodbye to you. I will miss you very much, Lolito”. According to the coach, the accident “was a misfortune in which the factors aligned to happen”because the little one fell “at low speed in the slowest curve of the circuit”.
The Honda Junior Cup brings together drivers aged 8 to 16. They ride specially adapted 160cc motorcycles. Young people can drive up to 100 km/h.
