The new president of the United States had expressed during the campaign his intention to end the war in Ukraine “in 24 hours”.
On November 7, the Washington Post revealed the holding of a telephone conversation between the new American president and Vladimir Putin. The newspaper assured that Donald Trump had urged the Russian president “not to intensify the war in Ukraine” and reminded him of the “significant presence” of the American army in Europe. They also reportedly discussed a possible peace deal between Russia and Ukraine. But the Kremlin denied the existence of this conversation on Monday.

This Tuesday, the Finnish president, after a telephone conversation with Donald Trump, announced that the American president-elect seriously wanted to put an end to the Russo-Ukrainian war, reports Bloomberg.
“We, in Europe and in the world, must understand that Donald Trump very seriously wants to reach a peace agreement as quickly as possible,” the Finnish president announced this Tuesday after a telephone conversation with Donald Trump. “There is a window of opportunity for these negotiations between the elections and inauguration day,” adds Alexander Stubb, on the occasion of the climate summit in Baku, which opened on November 12.

According to him, four subjects must be discussed to achieve peace in Ukraine: territory, security guarantees, justice and reconstruction.
After Trump's election victory, US media reported that the newly elected president had not yet approved concrete plans from his advisers on how to end the war in Ukraine and convince Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky to start negotiations.
Donald Trump's advisers propose stopping the war by fixing territorial gains on the current front line and temporarily halting negotiations on Ukraine's possible membership in NATO. Which would amount to ceding around 20% of Ukrainian territory to Moscow.
