Poco smashes entry-level prices with its new C75

The Xiaomi subsidiary is launching a new phone with an unbeatable price and a sleek design.

Obvious successor to the Poco C65, this new model wants to seduce thanks to a very attractive label displaying only €150. It will be available tomorrow in green, gold and black colors.

A very affordable phone

The Poco C75 looks exactly like many other smartphones of an equivalent range on the market. It’s true, apart from the attractive colors, the mobile is not necessarily very original. This is obvious in view of its price: you have to be prepared to make some concessions.

First, the C75 has the good taste to opt for a screen clocked at 120 Hz. A frequency offering more fluidity and better comfort of use. A 6.88” panel which, however, requires making some sacrifices: it is an LCD screen, and the resolution is quite low (720p only). On such a large diagonal, it stings.

Note also that the smartphone is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G81 chip. An SoC released last summer, but which is based on very dated technologies. It is engraved in 12 nm (for comparison, the A18 Pro of the recent iPhone 16 are engraved in 3 nm) and the frequency of its processor does not exceed 2.0 GHz. We must therefore expect modest performances.

Inexpensive, but durable?

Entry-level smartphones are probably the most difficult to design. How to position them well in a market as changing as that of mobile? Obviously, the lower the price, the better! But this sometimes prevents manufacturers from thinking about the durability of their products.

Here, the Poco C75 does not really meet what one might expect from a smartphone that will last several years. It is not 5G compatible (even though all operators are gradually abandoning 4G), only supports the WiFi 5 standard, and will only offer, at best, three years of updates.

Obviously, the price is an essential factor when considering the purchase of a smartphone. But many parameters can ultimately tip the scales towards the adoption of a slightly more expensive model, which will promise to remain valiant for a longer period.
