While the Valencia region is still suffering the consequences of the climatic disaster that occurred almost two weeks ago, the latest human toll of which stood at 215 dead, the province of Almeria is being hit hard by significant floods.
It is in the south of Spain, more precisely in Andalusia, that the rains surge. On Monday, November 11, 2024, the city of Almeria was placed on orange alert due to “heavy rain and storms” by the Spanish meteorological agency Aemet. It changed back to yellow this Tuesday morning.

Torrents of water and mud
Residents are urged not to cross flooded areas, either on foot or by car. Certain roads such as the A-7 motorway are seriously disrupted, as noted by this Spanish media on BFMTV .
The precipitation created torrents of water and mud on the roads.
A few kilometers from Almeria, in the coastal town of Aguadulce, the river of the Rambla has left its bed.
French firefighters and rescuers sent to Spain
In a recent press release, the Aemet agency estimates that torrential rains will persist in Andalusia, particularly in Malaga “with quantities that may exceed 180 mm” as well as the south coast of Valencia and the north coast of Alicante, where 100mm can be expected.
In the Valencia region, where the surrounding provinces are placed on yellow alert, volunteers are still supporting rescuers to help affected populations.
