Ah, scalpers… It seems that not everything is going as planned with the PS5 Pro. While these crooked resellers intended to do it again with the new Sony console, the resale did not take off, pushing them to reduce its price. Sometimes even below 699 dollars!
During the pandemic, scalpers took advantage of shortages and high demand to buy many PS5sbut also Xbox Series X and Nintendo Switch, and resell them at a high price. Some did not hesitate to double the prices and inevitably there were buyers, causing a vicious circle. Except that the sauce does not work with the PS5 Pro, an evolution of the standard PS5.

Scalpers fail to sell the PS5 and lower prices
The exorbitant margins at the launch of the PS5 are ancient history. Scalpers are not doing well at all with the PS5 Pro, quite simply because there are enough stocks. The console is then resold at its official price of $699, sometimes even lower. Resellers therefore lose money, in particular because of the listing and shipping costs that they pay themselves, and that is good news. The disc player sold separately experiences the same situation.
Scalpers are therefore in difficulty with lower demand for the PS5 Pro because of its very steep price justified by Sony, and the console is widely available in stores. It is only in Japan that the technique works since resellers make margins between 65 and 130 dollars.
The PS5 Pro establishes itself as the best current home console, ahead of the Xbox Series X, but struggles to convince by its excessive price and its absence of a disc player sold separately. Worse still: the fronts of the Slim version are not compatible, even though they are the same size.
However, the machine does not lack advantages with its solid technical sheet. The PS5 Pro is on board a GPU with 60 computing units and GDDR6 memory at 18 Gbps. The AI-based upscaling solution, PSSR, achieves 60 frames per second with high graphics. Many games are compatible, several dozen, including Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 which is coming to PC. And speaking of PC, the PS5 Pro nevertheless remains below a modern gaming computer.
