Dutch police made three arrests after another turbulent evening in Amsterdam.
Amsterdam experienced another restless night on Monday evening. Several hundred young people gathered in the early evening in a neighborhood in the west of the city. A tram was set on fire, one person injured and three others arrested.
The demonstrators chanted pro-Palestinian slogans. Several fireworks were set off, including some in the direction of a tram which caught fire. Police officers were also stoned by the agitators.
Around 10 p.m., however, calm had returned to this district of Amsterdam and the majority of the troublemakers had left the scene. Most of the police vehicles had also left.
Dutch police arrested three people after this new outbreak of violence. She does not rule out that other arrests will take place.
Police also confirmed that one person was injured by a pyrotechnic device.
Last week, the largest city in the Netherlands experienced an outbreak of violence on the sidelines of the football match between Ajax and Maccabi Tel-Aviv. Israeli supporters were violently attacked in the center of the city, sparking outrage in the country and beyond.
