Remembrance Day: Ceremony in Ottawa to honor veterans

VAT Gatineau | November 11, 2024

This November 11, thousands of people gathered near the National War Memorial in Ottawa for the Remembrance Day ceremony.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the Governor General and several dignitaries were present to honor veterans and serving military personnel.

The ceremony began with the parade of veterans, followed by 21 artillery shots and the laying of wreaths in tribute to the fallen. A particularly moving moment was the speech of Ms. Anderson, mother of two deceased soldiers, who deeply touched the spectators.

Citizens who came to honor their loved ones shared their stories and their gratitude.

Others speak of the importance of paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for freedom.

The ceremony, marked by a minute of silence, ended in a spirit of solidarity and recognition towards those who continue to defend Canadian values.

Remembrance Day thus recalls the commitment of those who have worn, and still wear, the uniform for their country.
