The macabre discovery was made by relatives on Sunday. Agents from the Roussillon Intermunicipal Police Authority went to the residence on rue Fontanelle after receiving a call at 11 a.m. that day. They found the victim’s body there and immediately transferred the investigation to the Sûreté du Québec.
On site, the police arrested a man, Shilei Du, aged 36. He was charged Monday morning with the first-degree murder of Guangmei Ye, which allegedly occurred around November 7.
In September, Shilei Du was charged with criminal harassment in the context of domestic violence. He had made death threats against his partner. On October 15, he was released pending trial.
